Mariah May has become a major part of AEW, especially after her standout feud with Toni Storm that lasted well over a year. While many fans hoped she’d stay with the company long-term, there’s now growing speculation that she might be headed to WWE. In fact, it appears that she made it clear she wouldn’t re-sign with AEW before a big match.
According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Mariah May let AEW know she didn’t plan to re-sign with the company, which is why her match with Toni Storm happened at Revolution.
Meltzer mentioned he was surprised the match happened so soon, since the feud was still building and could’ve gone on longer. But once AEW learned she wasn’t staying, they decided to wrap it up when they did.
“I noted many times that I was surprised at doing that match at that time because it was such a hot feud and didn’t need a final blow-off after just three matches. Apparently May made it clear at that time that she was not signing a new deal and so they booked it at that time for that reason.“
Some people thought Mariah May was leaving AEW for WWE after her match at Revolution, but new info says that might not be true. According to Fightful Select, she’s using all the rumors to her advantage.
Sources say Mariah is being smart and using the attention to get better offers. She’s not rushing into anything, she’s just making sure everyone knows how valuable she is. Since her loss to Toni Storm, she hasn’t been on AEW TV, which has made fans talk even more, but Fightful stated AEW really wants to retain her.
What surprised people the most is that her contract might be very short, which is why things are happening so fast behind the scenes. Right now, nothing is final, but Mariah May seems to be in control of what happens next.
Mariah May’s next move is still unknown, but what’s clear is that she’s in control. Whether she stays with AEW or goes to WWE, she’s showing everyone that she’s not just talented in the ring, she’s also smart about her career. Fans everywhere will be paying close attention to what she does next.
Do you think Mariah May should stay in AEW, or would she thrive in WWE’s system?
