Mariah May might be off AEW television, but she’s far from silent—and her latest post has fans reading between the lines.
The former AEW Women’s World Champion took to Instagram this week with a cryptic message that’s fueling speculation about her future. Amid reports that she’s currently in a contract year with AEW, Mariah shared a quote to her story that read: “You can’t make the wrong decision because every decision leads you to where you’re supposed to be.”
The timing is raising eyebrows. May hasn’t appeared on AEW programming since her brutal loss to Toni Storm at AEW Revolution, where Storm retained her title in the “Hollywood Ending.” It marked the end of their intense on-screen rivalry—and possibly May’s final chapter in AEW.
So far, AEW hasn’t addressed her contract status publicly, and neither has Mariah beyond this cryptic hint. But with the women’s division heating up ahead of AEW All In: Texas, fans are starting to wonder if her absence is more than just storyline.
Meanwhile, Toni Storm remains champion and recently defended the AEW Women’s World Title against Megan Bayne at Dynasty. She’ll next face the winner of the Women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament at All In. That tournament is now down to the semi-finals: Jamie Hayter vs. Kris Statlander, and Mercedes Moné vs. Athena.
Could Mariah May be heading out the door—or just recalibrating for a major return?

What do you think Mariah’s message means? Is this the end of her time in AEW, or just a pause before a surprise comeback? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know where you think she’s headed next.
