WWE has a lot of money to use at their discretion, but that doesn’t mean they are going to give everyone a massive check. NXT is still on the lower end of the salary totem pole, and that has been brought into public attention in recent memory.

Mandy Rose and her husband Savvy discussed many things during their last Power Alphas Podcast. This included going into WWE and NXT pay, health, and long-term value. Naturally, the two dove into some interesting subjects.

The topic came up while talking about former NXT wrestler Jazmyn Nyx, who reportedly turned down a contract offer that was said to be worth less than $100,000 over three years. Mandy Rose is a former NXT Women’s Champion, so she knows the struggle and understands that frustration over the compensation system and how it doesn’t match up with the physical demands of the job of being a WWE Superstar.

“Can we talk about the fact that like I don’t know what specifically she was offered, but like they offered her less than 100K for 3 years. Like, I mean NXT I get it, you’re not making a lot of money in NXT, but there’s a lot of variables.”

Mandy Rose then mentioned that Jazmyn came in as an athlete and not a trained wrestler, but that doesn’t make the offer fair when considering the physical risks. The danger is still real every time you step in the ring.

“You’re still beating up your body to a level of danger, right? There’s a level of… you are risking your health, your long-term health.”

Mandy Rose then pointed out that NXT is treated as developmental, but the brand functions on its own with television and live events. She said the pay still doesn’t match what the performers give up in return. Savvy and Mandy then shifted the conversation to a larger point about health and priorities.

“If you’re chasing wealth and neglecting your health, you’re going to be broke in two aspects.”

Savvy explained the idea a bit more as he said, “First, you’ll be broke because your body will be broken down… Second, your health is the driving force to create wealth. Once you lose your health, you lose your energy, your motivation, your discipline, your habits… you’ll lose that money you’re chasing.”

They said wrestlers and people in similar jobs need to look at the balance between money and long-term impact. This is a good suggestion for many people, especially if they aren’t getting paid what they deserve. Mandy Rose then ended the topic with a blunt reminder.

“I mean, come on. Where are you buying a home for under 100K a year? You’re risking your body and your future for peanuts.”

WWE Superstars are making a lot of money on the main roster, but that isn’t the same on the NXT brand. TKO Group Holdings is a real company, and they changed the game by bringing WWE under UFC under the same roof. That being said, UFC fighters have also complained about their unfair level of compensation at the lower levels for a while.

Only time will tell if some added pressure will help WWE give those NXT Superstars a pay increase. After all, they are going to keep the show on The CW with a lucrative contract, and that deal is still going strong. Mandy Rose may consider this kind of thing when thinking about her own possible comeback.
