Major League Soccer is making a major power move, shifting its entire production operation to WWE’s state-of-the-art studios in Stamford, Connecticut.

The move means that MLS Season Pass—the league’s Apple TV-based streaming service—will now be produced inside The Studios at WWE, a 30,000-square-foot facility that opened in April 2024. According to MLS EVP/Media Seth Bacon, this consolidation is all about efficiency and quality.

“The goal of moving to this new facility is to get everyone into one place, everyone working together, focused on how we produce the same amount of content at higher quality,” Bacon told Sports Business Journal. “Then, take that learning and evolve that to how do we take the same group of people and figure out to produce even more content at that same high quality, but more efficiently, so that we don’t have duplication of efforts between groups, we actually have everyone focused on one goal: telling great stories.”

This move isn’t just about MLS Season Pass. WWE Studios will also handle graphics production for over 600 live matches per year, as well as short-form content for MLS social media channels and other league content partners.

MLS recently entered a 10-year distribution partnership with Apple, and this latest shift solidifies its commitment to expanding its digital presence.

MLS teaming up with WWE’s production powerhouse is a wild crossover that nobody saw coming. Whether this move elevates the league’s content or just adds some WWE flair to soccer broadcasts, one thing’s for sure—MLS isn’t playing around when it comes to expanding its reach. But will this shake-up deliver game-changing results, or is it just a flashy relocation? Sound off in the comments!
