The road to WWE Elimination Chamber is getting wild, and tonight’s SmackDown might see a last-minute shake-up in a major championship match.

According to WrestleVotes, “Tonight’s advertised United States Championship match between Shinsuke Nakamura and LA Knight may be changing in some form. We’re told SmackDown’s plans are still being finalized.”

That means fans expecting a straight-up battle between Nakamura and Knight for the U.S. Title might be in for something completely different. Whether it’s a stipulation change, an added competitor, or an entirely new match, nothing is locked in yet. With WWE known for throwing curveballs, anything can happen.

The original SmackDown lineup had Trish Stratus and Tiffany Stratton kicking off the show with a promo segment, just one night before they team up against Nia Jax and Candice LeRae at Elimination Chamber. Stratus recently returned to action in the Women’s Royal Rumble match, and now she’s pairing up with Stratton in what could be a defining moment for both.

Also on the card, Chelsea Green is set for a match in her home country of Canada against a mystery opponent. But with the U.S. Title match now up in the air, the biggest story of the night could be whatever WWE has planned for Nakamura and Knight.
