Conor McGregor may be a larger-than-life figure in combat sports, but one WWE Superstar isn’t buying into the idea that he could ever cut it in pro wrestling.
While speaking with the Irish Mirror to promote WWE Friday Night SmackDown’s return to Ireland this August, Lyra Valkyria was asked about the possibility of McGregor stepping into a WWE ring. The subject has come up countless times, thanks to McGregor’s flair for trash talk, his massive fanbase, and his own past teases about wanting to suplex Paul Heyman.
But despite both being Irish and global personalities in their respective fields, Valkyria didn’t hold back: “He doesn’t have what it takes.”
That was the full quote. No qualifiers, no explanations—just a straight-up dismissal. The comment came after Valkyria had spent part of the interview speaking about the pride she feels representing Ireland in WWE, especially now as the inaugural WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion. When the conversation shifted to Irish sports stars like McGregor, she kept her response focused and ice-cold.
While McGregor has repeatedly teased interest in pro wrestling over the years—and many have argued his charisma could fit right in with WWE’s storytelling style—Valkyria’s blunt take suggests she sees a serious gap between octagon theatrics and squared-circle discipline.
She was also asked about McGregor’s rumored plans to run for President of Ireland, but she chose not to comment on that.
Lyra Valkyria is proving she’s not afraid to speak her mind, and if you were expecting her to welcome a potential McGregor WWE cameo, she just shut the door with six words.
Do you agree with Lyra Valkyria, or do you think Conor Mc Gregor could actually hang in WWE? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comment section below.
