Lyra Valkyria might be carrying gold, but TSA clearly didn’t get the memo. The WWE Women’s Intercontinental Champion opened up about the unexpected struggles of flying with her title belt during her chat with Chris Van Vliet—and let’s just say airport security isn’t always belt-friendly.

“That happens a lot. That’s starting to get old. I always have to allow that little bit of extra time.” Valkyria said, explaining why she always carries the championship in her bag.

Of course, that leads to some awkward encounters at the airport. “Maybe I should just whip it out. Maybe I should just go to the airport with it on my shoulder,” she joked, clearly tired of repeating the same explanation at every checkpoint.

She added that TSA’s reaction is a quick way to figure out who’s a WWE fan and who’s not. “I’ll always know if they understand WWE. If not, they’ll be like, ‘Oo, what’s that?’ Like, ‘What weight class are you in?’ And then I know like, okay, they don’t know what we do.”

Still, not every TSA experience is a headache. “Sometimes they get super excited and ask for pictures and stuff. And that’s always nice—like they know they’ve met the champion then. That’s a cool thing.”

While Valkyria continues to defend her title in the ring, it seems the real battle sometimes happens at the airport conveyor belt.
