The wrestling world has lost a true icon. Ciclon Ramirez, a legend in lucha libre, has sadly passed away at the age of 64. The news was shared on Facebook on March 4, with Record reporting that he suffered a fatal heart attack.

Ramirez’s career stretched back nearly four decades, making his debut in 1985. Best known for his time in CMLL, he also competed in AAA, IWRG, and Promo Azteca, leaving a lasting legacy in each promotion. He held the CMLL World Welterweight Championship and was widely respected for his high-flying style and technical skill.

His final match took place on August 30, 2024, when he teamed up with El Hijo del Fishman & Mascara Sagrada NG to face Hijo del Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, and Emperador Azteca. Even in his final bouts, Ramirez continued to showcase the passion and talent that made him a staple of lucha libre.

His influence in wrestling isn’t ending with his passing—his son, Ciclon Ramirez Jr., is currently making a name for himself on Mexico’s independent scene, while his nephew, Xelhua, is rising through the ranks of CMLL.
