Los Garza Set to Defend AAA Tag Titles in Open Challenge on August 1 WWE SmackDown

WWE’s road to SummerSlam is heating up, and the August 1 episode of SmackDown just added even more fire.

In a new update posted to WWE’s social media channels, it was confirmed that Los Garza—Angel and Berto—will defend the AAA World Tag Team Titles in an open challenge on next Friday’s show.

The match will take place on the SummerSlam go-home episode of SmackDown, and Santos Escobar appeared in a video to make the announcement on behalf of Los Garza. With no challengers confirmed yet, the door is wide open for any tag team to step up and try to take the gold off Angel and Berto.

Also confirmed for the same night, Damian Priest will face Aleister Black in a one-on-one match that’s been building for weeks. The two have had plenty of tension, and now they’re set to settle it in the ring just 24 hours before SummerSlam.

Giulia is also set to defend the WWE Women’s United States Championship against former champion Zelina Vega. With Kiana James in her corner, all eyes will be on how this match plays out—and whether Giulia can keep her momentum going heading into SummerSlam weekend.

The August 1 episode of SmackDown will air live from the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey, and is shaping up to be a major final stop before WWE’s biggest show of the summer.
