R-Truth has always looked up to John Cena as his “childhood hero,” and now that Cena has turned heel, fans are curious if the two will ever face off in the ring. In fact, it appears that this long-awaited match could be happening sooner than expected.
According to Cory Hays of PWN, R-Truth is scheduled to face his “childhood hero” John Cena in a match that’s expected to take place in about two weeks. Therefore, this long-anticipated bout could finally become a reality soon enough.
This comes after R-Truth was asked about possibly facing John Cena now that Cena has turned heel. Truth said the match would only happen if the timing and situation were just right.
Truth admitted he’d be excited for the match, but he’s not sure it will ever happen, especially with the way Cena has been acting lately. He also questioned whether Cena would even take him seriously and said that he’s mostly been staying out of the chaos.
“A match between me and John Cena? Only way we can see that though, dog, it’s gotta be the right way, you know? The old me—I’m not a bad guy, I’m a good guy now. I kiss the babies, I hug people, I don’t kick people in the gonads. So for that to happen, it would have to be a complete turnaround, man. I don’t know, man. I would love it, but I don’t know… man, he did some wrong stuff. How you even know he’s gonna listen to me? I try to be the voice of reason, but I don’t know. I’ve been staying out of the mix.”
A match between R-Truth and John Cena would be a huge moment in WWE. Whether it happens in the next few weeks or sometime later, this long-awaited match will definitely deliver a nostalgic and emotionally charged experience for the fans, especially since Cena’s a full-fledged heel now.
