CM Punk’s entrance rehearsal may have stolen the spotlight, but the biggest music headline heading into WrestleMania 41 might not even be about him.
According to Fightful Select, WWE considered bringing in Slayer—yes, the legendary metal band—for a live entrance performance at WrestleMania 41. The idea? Have Slayer rip through a track as Damian Priest makes his way to the ring for his Sin City Street Fight against Drew McIntyre on Night Two.
While it’s unclear if the plan will still move forward, It was noted that the band was seriously discussed for the role, and that WWE is leaning heavier than ever into full-scale musical entrances this year.
“There are rumors within WWE that another major band could appear. Fightful Select has heard word that legendary metal band Slayer was considered for WrestleMania to play Damian Priest to the ring against Drew McIntyre on night two.”
That would add to the momentum already surrounding Living Colour, who have been in Las Vegas all week and are widely rumored to perform “Cult of Personality” for CM Punk’s entrance on Night One.
With WrestleMania 41 taking place in Las Vegas, WWE is clearly looking to inject the spectacle with extra rock-and-roll star power. Between rumors of Slayer, the confirmed presence of Living Colour, and WWE’s recent history of using artists like Bad Bunny and Poppy, music has officially become a main character on the grandest stage of them all.
Would you be down to see Slayer melt the stadium while Priest walks to the ring? Or would you prefer a more classic WrestleMania-style entrance? Drop your thoughts in the comments and let us know which musical moment you’re hoping to see this weekend.
