AEW added a last-minute twist to Dynamite on May 21, and it all started with a backstage mic and a message that never got delivered.
Just 40 minutes before Dynamite went live, AEW posted a new segment featuring Ricochet and Renee Paquette—until Anthony Bowens stormed in and cut it short.
“TONIGHT! #AEWDynamite LIVE, 8/7c on @TBSNetwork + @SportsOnMAX,” AEW tweeted. “@KingRicochet found @ReneePaquette to deliver a special message — but @bowens_official has had enough and challenges him to see who’s the one true Scissor King of AEW at 8pm ET/7pm CT on TBS + MAX TONIGHT!”
In the clip, Renee was trying to interview Ricochet, who seemed poised to deliver a confident message ahead of Double or Nothing. But before he could even get the words out, Bowens barged in and made things personal. That’s when Bowens laid down the challenge—and it’s going down tonight.
This surprise match adds even more heat to a packed Dynamite card that already includes Jon Moxley and The Young Bucks vs. Samoa Joe, Powerhouse Hobbs, and Swerve Strickland, plus major face-offs between Will Ospreay and Hangman Page, and Mercedes Moné and Jamie Hayter.
Now with Ricochet and Bowens clashing live in Albuquerque, the go-home show for Double or Nothing just got even more loaded.
