Blake Monroe hasn’t even laced up her boots yet in NXT, but she’s already the talk of the locker room—and not everyone is buying into the hype.

Former AEW star Mariah May officially debuted her new WWE persona, Blake Monroe, during the June 10 episode of WWE NXT on The CW. A glammed-out vignette introduced her as “the glamour” of NXT, complete with lipstick, heels, and a dramatic voiceover that ended with, “The glamour is… Blake Monroe.”

But while Monroe soaks up the spotlight, Lash Legend made it clear on Busted Open After Dark with Bully Ray that she’s not about to get overshadowed by WWE’s newest “shiny toy.”

When asked how she felt about Blake Monroe’s fast rise to attention just one week after debuting, Lash kept it professional—but firm.

“I think Jacy Jayne actually said in her promo the other week that it’s the new flavors of the month all the time coming in. I mean, it’s about who’s being the most consistent. Like, everybody sees a new shiny toy—like, ‘Oh! Let’s look at this person.’ And I’m not talking bad about this person—and that person’s probably a great person—but that’s just how it goes around here.”

Legend didn’t stop there. She made it known that consistency—not flash—is what separates the real players in WWE.

“It’s about who can outlast and who can stay popping through it all. And that’s me.”

Blake Monroe first popped up on the June 3 episode of NXT, making a dramatic entrance from the balcony during a chaotic women’s division brawl. Her confidence was loud and clear when she told the crowd, “The best women’s division in the world just got a lot more glamorous… I’m the next NXT Women’s Champion.”

Now, with Monroe’s character fully revealed and attention pouring in, Lash Legend is drawing a line in the sand. And with the NXT Women’s Championship in play, things could heat up fast between the long-term workhorse and the fresh face with the flash.
