LA Knight says his experience with WWE’s Netflix series Unreal has changed the way he operates backstage — and he didn’t sound thrilled about it.

Speaking on the BootlegKev podcast, the WWE star opened up about being featured on WWE Unreal and revealed that the filming situation left him frustrated. According to Knight, he didn’t even realize he was being recorded during one of the moments that ended up on the show. Knight explained that he held back his real feelings at the time, but the experience ultimately changed how he handles himself backstage.

“I have definitely shifted the way I do things because you mentioned my appearance on WWE Unreal. I was majorly holding my tongue there, if you looked, because I had my own frustrations about that situation. That partially had to do with the finish, but more so had to do with the overarching theme.”

Knight then revealed that while talent were told the production crew would be around, he had no idea he was actually being filmed or picked up on a microphone at that moment.

“Although they told us, ‘Hey, Unreal’s going to be here today,’ I had no idea I was being filmed. I had no idea that I was on a microphone at that point in time. It felt like an invasion of privacy.”

Because of that experience, Knight says he now avoids hanging around Gorilla Position after matches — the backstage area where wrestlers typically return immediately after performing. Knight added that if anyone wants to discuss what happened in his match, he’d rather do it privately rather than on camera.

“So with that being the case, I don’t even stop there at Gorilla Position anymore. When my match or segment is over, I go straight to the locker room. If they want to talk to me about my match or whatever happened out there, sure, let’s talk about it when there’s no microphone or camera around, because that’s how it’s always been. So with that being the case, I won’t stop in there and leave myself susceptible to that.”

Knight’s comments add another perspective to the ongoing conversation about how much of wrestling’s backstage world should be shown publicly. The Netflix series WWE Unreal pulls back the curtain on how matches and storylines are discussed behind the scenes, something that has sparked debate about whether it completely erases traditional wrestling secrecy.

That discussion recently came up when Brie Bella argued that shows like Unreal prove that kayfabe is effectively gone in modern wrestling. Knight’s experience shows that while some are comfortable revealing how the industry works, others feel the cameras might be going a little too far.

What do you think about LA Knight’s experience on WWE Unreal? Do you enjoy seeing the behind-the-scenes side of wrestling, or should some parts of the business stay off camera? Let us know your thoughts and leave your feedback.
