Kurt Angle knows greatness when he sees it, and he’s making it clear—Chad Gable has what it takes to be a world champion in WWE.
Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, the WWE Hall of Famer had nothing but praise for Gable, who has often been compared to him due to their Olympic wrestling backgrounds. Angle, who personally picked Gable to wrestle him during his retirement tour on RAW in 2019, believes WWE has finally figured out how to use him the right way.
“Chad made me look good. He did. Chad’s incredible. He’s a very talented kid, and I’m just glad that they’re utilizing him properly because I know he’s undersized a little bit. They didn’t know what to do with him. But this kid could be a world champion and be very marketable.”
Angle even joked that Gable should have been written as his storyline son in WWE instead of Jason Jordan, a move WWE made back in 2017.
“Especially with the gimmick he has right now, with the whole USA thing, and ‘You Suck’ and everything… he’s like my son. He should have been, yeah, exactly. But Vince McMahon had other ideas, having Jason Jordan be my son, which was ridiculous because, you know, that was cool.”
Angle retired at WrestleMania 35, where he lost to Baron Corbin, but his influence on WWE’s future stars hasn’t faded. If he’s backing Chad Gable as a future world champion, it might just be a matter of time before Gable gets his moment at the top.
