Kurt Angle has had some legendary WWE moments—but according to him, one angle from 2005 still haunts him.

During a conversation with Inside the Ropes, the Olympic gold medalist didn’t hesitate when asked about the worst storyline of his career. His answer? The infamous feud with Booker T that saw him stalk Sharmell on live television.

Angle revealed the idea came straight from Vince McMahon, and the backstory behind it only made things worse.

“Worst storyline I hated… it was when Booker T and Sharmell—when I was stalking Sharmell. Vince had this thing… I dated a Black girl once in my life. So Vince was like, ‘Hey, I’ll give you another example: Jason Jordan.’ Okay, Vince has a weird sense of humor.”

“He heard that I dated a Black girl, so he was like, ‘Oh, I’m going to get him to stalk Sharmell on TV. And you know what? I’m going to give him a son when he comes back.’ This guy made me miserable. I mean, it was just unbelievable.”

Angle said the entire angle made him deeply uncomfortable—especially given his respect for Sharmell and Booker T.

“It was the most uncomfortable storyline I ever did with stalking Sharmell, especially knowing her and Booker T. I had to say it—it was horrible. God, I hope you guys didn’t enjoy that. You did? No…”

The storyline, which aired in 2005, has long been viewed as one of WWE’s more questionable creative decisions—but hearing Angle admit how deeply it affected him gives it a whole new layer of meaning.

Did WWE cross a line with this storyline, or was Angle right to finally speak out about how bad it made him feel? Let us know in the comments what you thought of this angle—and if you think Vince took it too far.
