WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle’s journey as an Olympic gold medalist will be seen in an upcoming two-part biopic, which has been in the works since last year. While there’s no telling when the movie will come out, Angle has now revealed the current status of the biopic.

While speaking to Sports Illustrated, Kurt Angle revealed the current status of his biopic with directors Ian and Estan Melms, noting that the script is nearly finished and investors are already secured. The Melms brothers, both former high school and college wrestlers, bring an understanding of the sport that Angle values.

The team has been in close discussions and feels confident about their progress, but they are deliberately taking time to ensure the script is perfected before moving forward with casting or production. With Smashing Machine recently released, Angle stated that it may be best to let that film settle with audiences before pushing ahead with his own project.

“We are working on that movie. Uh, I have the directors, Ian and Estan Melms. They’re brothers. They were former wrestlers in high school and college, so they understand my sport. Um, we’ve been talking to each other. We’re almost done with the script. Uh, we already got the investors, so we’re in a good position right now.

But, uh, we’re not going to—we’re going to make sure the script’s perfected before we do anything, before we pick the cast and everything like that. So, we’re taking our time. And knowing that Smashing Machine just came out, it might be a good time to breathe a little bit and let that movie digest, and then, uh, you know, continue on.”

The planned two-part biopic will tell the full story of Kurt Angle’s life. The first movie will focus on his hard work and success in winning Olympic gold in 1996. The second movie will cover his career in professional wrestling, showing both the struggles and the achievements that made him a well-known star in the sport.

With the script close to completion and investors on board, the project is already building excitement among wrestling fans and lovers of sports dramas. It’s clear that Angle and his team are preparing a biopic that will definitely do justice to the WWE Hall of Famer. So we’ll just have to see when casting for the biopic begins.
