Hulk Hogan’s return at the WWE Raw Netflix premiere on January 6, 2025, didn’t go as planned. Instead of the hero’s welcome he was used to, the Los Angeles crowd showered him with boos, turning what was supposed to be a nostalgic moment into a controversial one.
Kurt Angle addressed the incident during an interview with Bill Apter for WrestleBinge, making it clear that while fans are entitled to their reactions, Hogan’s legacy remains untouched.
“Let the fans do what they want to do. I mean, Hulk Hogan is a legend. You can’t take that away from him. He’s probably the most popular pro wrestler of all time. He’s an incredible human being, but sometimes politics gets in the way. That’s what happened,” Angle said.
The Olympic gold medalist didn’t seem shocked by the reaction, implying that Hogan’s past controversies may have played a role in how the audience responded. Still, Angle emphasized that Hogan’s influence on the wrestling business is undeniable, regardless of how fans feel about him today.
While other wrestlers like Seth Rollins, Kevin Nash, and Rob Van Dam also weighed in with their own takes, Angle’s words stood out as a measured response, acknowledging both Hogan’s legendary status and the shifting dynamics of the WWE fanbase.
