Kota Ibushi suffered a very serious injury during the October 8 taping of AEW Collision. A few days after the incident, Ibushi has now confirmed he had a successful surgery and is now on the road to recovery.

Kota Ibushi took to his Instagram and confirmed that he had successful surgery after breaking his femur. He said this latest injury has been very painful and made him question whether he should keep wrestling, as the broken bone was close to piercing through his skin.

“Again? Again? I’ve done nothing but suffer serious injuries. This time it’s a femoral fracture (thigh bone), and the broken bone was about to pierce through the flesh. It feels like life is telling me, “Enough already. Stop.” The surgery was successfully completed‼️‼️ (If I end up with another serious injury after this…) From now on, I think I’ll live as an ordinary person.”

Ibushi reflected on how he’s spent the past five years constantly getting hurt, recovering, and facing more accidents. He admitted that part of him felt like life was telling him to stop. However, after receiving a personal bouquet and letter from AEW President Tony Khan, Ibushi said he couldn’t quit now.

“The surgery was successfully completed‼️‼️ (If I end up with another serious injury after this…) From now on, I think I’ll live as an ordinary person. #For about the past five years, I’ve been constantly breaking, healing, and getting into accidents #But this can’t be the way it ends #More than anything, the greatest president #TONY KHAN #And my comrade, the vice president #KENNY OMEGA #Nakazawa-san, who helped me with so many things #The best in the world—AEW I never imagined it… That the president himself would personally give me a bouquet and a letter. After something like that, how could I ever quit?‼️‼️ I cried.”

Ibushi said recovery could take a year or more and that he’s currently in great pain, only able to move his toes. He promised to keep fighting and begin his road to recovery as soon as he can.

“I don’t know if it’ll take a year or a year and a half to recover, but I’ll start doing whatever I can. Right now, I can only move my toes—unbearable pain. I was shocked that I could even still feel pain. Mr. Tony Khan… I’ve got no choice but to keep fighting 👊”

Even though this is a big setback, Kota Ibushi’s message shows how strong and thankful he is, just like always. With help from AEW leaders and his close friend Kenny Omega, fans believe he’ll recover and return to wrestling someday. It might take him more than a year, but his determination shows he’s not giving up yet.
