Konosuke Takeshita just walked out of Ariake Arena with the biggest win of his NJPW career—defeating EVIL in the finals of G1 Climax 35 in front of 6,870 fans and securing his shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.

The match was chaotic from the start, with constant interference from HOUSE OF TORTURE. Rocky Romero ran in to help neutralize the situation, and Zack Sabre Jr. appeared at ringside to drag Ren Narita away. Takeshita’s knee gave out during a key moment, which allowed EVIL to hit a low blow and a clothesline while the referee was distracted—but it only got him a two-count.

Takeshita regrouped and finished the match with Raging Fire, claiming the G1 Climax trophy and celebrating in the ring with BALLISTIK BOYZ—the group behind this year’s theme song.

After the match, Takeshita delivered a brief in-ring speech, then spoke backstage about his next goal. He made it clear he wants to face Zack Sabre Jr. for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title before Wrestle Kingdom 20—his plan is to enter the Tokyo Dome as champion, not just as a challenger.
