Konnan’s health situation may be even more serious than previously believed. According to a new report, the wrestling veteran is now at risk of losing his second leg after already undergoing an amputation.
Mexican outlet RÉCORD reported on March 9, 2026 that Konnan recently had one of his legs amputated due to severe medical complications. Even more concerning, doctors are reportedly monitoring his condition closely because there is still a risk that he could lose the other leg as well.
“Just last Friday we confirmed with different sources that Konnan suffered the amputation of one leg, although that happened several days ago, and the worst part is that the doctors' prognosis is that there is still a risk that he may lose the other leg.”
According to the report, several people within the wrestling industry — including sources connected to AAA and WWE — are intentionally staying quiet about the situation so Konnan can address it publicly on his own terms.
“Sources at AAA/WWE tell me they will be respectful of the information, so it will be solely Konnan who decides when and how he will speak about his health.”
The report also provided an update on Konnan’s current involvement behind the scenes in AAA, suggesting that while he still participates in discussions, his role within the promotion may have changed.
“As for his work, as I mentioned weeks ago, the Cuban is still included in some meetings and can make suggestions and offer his opinion; however, he no longer has any creative or decision-making power in any aspect, so his situation within the Star Caravan, now owned by WWE, is uncertain.”
This comes after Dave Meltzer reported on Wrestling Observer Radio that Konnan had been in “rough shape” for several weeks and had been in and out of the hospital, though he noted details were still unclear.
Konnan has battled serious health problems for years, including kidney failure, a transplant, and complications related to COVID-19. Despite those setbacks, he remained involved in wrestling both on-screen and behind the scenes. For now, much of the wrestling world is waiting for Konnan himself to address the situation, as those close to him appear determined to keep the details private until he’s ready to speak.
