Komander’s recent injury has officially taken him off the biggest CMLL card of the summer.
The luchador was written off AEW television on the June 11 episode of Dynamite: Summer Blockbuster after a brutal beatdown by The Hurt Syndicate—a storyline cover for a real injury he suffered just days earlier. Now, CMLL has confirmed the situation is serious enough to force Komander out of FantasticaMania Mexico 2025 entirely.
On June 16, CMLL issued an official statement regarding the situation:
“The Consejo Mundial de Lucha Libre (CMLL) announces that, due to a medical ruling, the wrestler Komander will not be able to participate in FantasticaMania Mexico 2025, where he was originally scheduled to be part of the main event match for the CMLL World Trios Championship.”
The show’s main event will now be restructured. Místico and Máscara Dorada will represent CMLL in a tag team match against AEW’s Bandido and Hologram. Meanwhile, Neón—who was supposed to team with Místico and Dorada in the Trios title match—will instead compete in a Lightning Match against Kevin Knight.
CMLL stated that the postponed World Trios Championship match “will be rescheduled and held at a later date, which will be announced in due course.”
The injury occurred during a match in Oaxaca on June 9. Komander attempted his signature rope walk into a Fosbury Flop but slipped mid-air. Ultimo Guerrero adjusted in real time to prevent a worse landing, but the damage was already done. As Bryan Alvarez reported on Wrestling Observer Live, the injury left Komander medically unfit to compete—despite his efforts to wrestle at Dynamite.
“Komander’s gonna be out for a long time,” Alvarez said. “He was getting it checked this week to find out the severity. He did show up to Dynamite and wanted to do the match, but the doctor said no way—it just wasn’t possible, so it’s serious.”
“Whether he tore ligaments or just sprained his knee, we don’t know yet. What we do know is that he’s not cleared right now.”
This is a tough blow for both Komander and AEW’s international partnerships. His absence will be felt by fans who’ve come to expect death-defying aerial displays every time he enters the ring.
Wishing Komander a full recovery, and hopefully we’ll see him back on both AEW and CMLL stages sooner than later.
