Killer Kross has opened up about the real backstage reaction to his worked-shoot promo that aired following WrestleMania 41—revealing that not everyone in WWE Creative was thrilled with how it went down.

Speaking with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Kross reflected on the now-infamous promo he delivered on Sam Roberts and Megan Morant’s post-WrestleMania show. In it, he broke kayfabe just enough to stir up buzz, calling out WWE for his lack of opportunities and referencing his past release.

“As I said, worked, but obviously based off of real things. That’s like the fine line of pro-wrestling that makes those connections, right? That resonates with people.”

Although fans loved the promo, Kross said things felt off backstage the following night at Raw. He shared that he received a call from Talent Relations about the fallout.

“So we do that, everybody loved it, we leave. The next day was weird at Raw… I get a phone call from somebody in Talent Relations. He says Creative is not happy, there’s heat, they’re pissed.”

Kross immediately tried to smooth things over with the writing team—but found they didn’t even know what the issue was.

“I said, dude, this is my fault, let me take care of it, no problem. I go across the hall, I speak with some of the writers, I explain everything, they’re like ‘Man, we don’t know what you’re talking about.’”

Despite the confusion, the reaction eventually made sense. Kross learned that it was Triple H himself who wasn’t thrilled at first.

“I eventually did speak with Hunter, cleared the air with him. It’s a massive company with a lot of different departments, and not all of them are in lockstep with communication. He was super cool about it once we spoke to him, he understood where I was coming from, and what I was trying to do.”

Killer Kross and Scarlett officially parted ways with WWE when their contracts expired in August. But it’s clear Kross left on his own terms—with no regrets about stirring things up on his way out.
