Andrade’s AEW comeback wasn’t just about shocking fans—it’s part of a bigger plan. After his surprise return on the October 1 episode of AEW Dynamite, the former WWE Superstar is officially All Elite again, and AEW has long-term goals in mind.
As noted earlier, Andrade was free to sign immediately after being fired from WWE earlier this summer, since there was no non-compete clause. He wasted no time making an impact—attacking Kenny Omega and joining the Don Callis Family. But now we know there’s more to the story.
In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer revealed that AEW had a strategic reason for bringing Andrade back.
“As for Andrade, a big part of bringing him in is wanting another Hispanic star to help build the company up in Mexico and on Fox Sports Mexico, since he has a big name in that country.”
The timing makes sense. Andrade’s return came after Kenny Omega and Brodido defeated The Young Bucks and Josh Alexander. Omega’s celebration was cut short when the Bucks turned on him, setting off post-match chaos. Jack Perry and Luchasaurus tried to even the odds, but tension exploded between Perry and Omega. Then the lights dropped. When they came back on, Andrade stood in the middle of the ring and took out Omega in a shocking assault that instantly put him at the center of AEW’s top storyline.
This marks Andrade’s first wrestling appearance since SummerSlam, where he teamed with Rey Fenix in a six-pack TLC match. WWE never acknowledged his departure, but now he’s back—on his own terms, no restrictions, no silence.
AEW’s move is as much about business as it is about storytelling. With Andrade’s star power in Mexico and the backing of Don Callis, AEW is clearly looking to expand its reach across international borders.
Andrade now has a clean slate and a big spotlight. The only question left is—who’s going to try and stop him?
Do you think AEW’s strategy to grow their reach in Mexico will pay off with Andrade in the spotlight? And who should step up to challenge him first? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
