Wrestling legend Kevin Von Erich has signed with All Elite Wrestling—and the news didn’t break through a press release or Tony Khan’s Twitter, but straight from his sons on their own podcast.
During a new episode of The Claw Pod, Ross and Marshall Von Erich dropped a surprise that caught even them off guard: their father is officially with AEW. Marshall made the announcement while discussing AEW and ROH’s All In weekend plans.
“My dad is officially… he’s on the team. He’s with AEW now,” Marshall revealed. “And so, yeah, yeah, dude, we were, we were surprised, too. And we’re like, ‘What, Dad?’… and he’s like, ‘Yeah, man, I’m on the team now.’”
Ross then followed up with clarification about the deal:
“He’s basically got like, the, like, sort of a legends deal kind of thing, which is awesome.”
The WWE Hall of Famer now joins AEW in a backstage role, offering wisdom and guidance to the younger generation—something his sons believe is invaluable.
“They still have tons of tools that will help younger guys,” Marshall explained. “And having my dad, guys like my dad in the locker room, you’ll get better.”
Marshall also opened up about the deep respect current stars have for the Von Erich legacy—something that still surprises them today.
“Ross and I were impressed with the people that… really respect him. Will Ospreay… he loved our family, and he was really impacted by it… It shows that Will’s like a really, is a student. He studies it. Studies everything.”
He wasn’t done either, adding that even one of AEW’s top stars is hooked on the old-school WCCW content.
“MJF watches World Class all the time too.”
Kevin Von Erich’s story has had a resurgence thanks to The Iron Claw, the 2023 A24 biopic that introduced his family’s tragic and iconic wrestling history to a new generation. Now, he’s stepping into a new role with AEW, helping shape the next chapter of wrestling behind the scenes.
