Kevin Owens has heard all the noise for years—critics who’ve said he doesn’t “look like a wrestler” because of his build. But the former Universal Champion doesn’t give a damn about fitting a mold, and he’s once again shutting down the body shamers who can’t stop talking about his appearance.

In a new interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Owens made it clear that he’s done trying to please people who think looking a certain way matters more than putting on killer matches.

“Yeah, I mean, I still get it all the time,” he said. “But really, the people that feel like that’s a knock or an insult, they’re just very stupid. I’m so comfortable with how I look. I always have been, which is probably what’s driven so many people crazy.”

Owens admitted that his weight has fluctuated over the years and that yes, there were times he wasn’t training like he should’ve. But none of that ever impacted his in-ring ability. “They’ll say, ‘Well, you weren’t working out enough. You were eating like sht.’ Yeah, that’s true, but it never hindered my work,”* he said. “I was having killer matches either way.”

What’s even more frustrating to his haters? The fact that KO recently dropped weight without even trying.

“I haven’t done anything to lose weight. I didn’t set out and go, ‘I’m gonna lose weight.’ I really didn’t,” he said. “My weight fluctuates a lot. I might be a little more active in my everyday life than I was for a while. I don’t know—my metabolism? I really have no idea.”

He added: “But I’ve never made a conscious choice to be heavier or be lighter or look better—and man, that really drives a lot of people crazy.”

Right now, Owens is sidelined with a neck injury that forced him off the WrestleMania 41 card, and his long-term wrestling future is still unclear. But if it’s up to KO, he’ll be back delivering show-stealing matches on his own terms—and in his own shape.
