Kevin Owens hasn’t had neck surgery yet—but WWE is listing him for an upcoming show, and now fans are scrambling to figure out what it means.
While Owens recently confirmed in a Twitter video that he still hasn’t undergone surgery and that “there’s a lot of uncertainty” surrounding his condition, WWE is now promoting him for the June 13th episode of SmackDown. It’s the only future event he’s currently listed for, and whether that’s a tease or just a clerical slip-up is anyone’s guess.
Owens was clear in his own update: “We don’t have a surgery date yet. I have not had surgery yet. Despite reports that are contrary… we’re still gonna try and figure out what the best way to go about it all is.” He added, “Hopefully in the next few weeks, we get clarity and we do the surgery and then we go from there.”
So why is WWE promoting him for SmackDown? At this point, it’s unclear whether it’s an oversight, an early setup for a non-wrestling appearance, or an actual sign that a return—at least in some capacity—is being discussed behind the scenes.
Owens isn’t the only name drawing attention on WWE’s upcoming lineup. Cody Rhodes is listed for tonight’s SmackDown.
As for Owens, don’t expect to see him back in the ring unless he’s fully cleared. But with WWE promoting his name, it’s fair to say something may be in the works—even if it’s not a match just yet.

Do you think WWE is teasing Kevin Owens’ return on purpose—or is this just a mistake? Would you want to see him return in a non-wrestling role while he recovers? Drop your thoughts in the comments.
