Matt Riddle is revisiting a tense backstage encounter with Brock Lesnar, but the part of the story getting the most attention now involves a surprising accusation aimed at Kevin Owens.

Speaking with R3 Interviews, the former WWE United States Champion recalled the moment Lesnar confronted him during a WWE Royal Rumble event after years of Riddle publicly calling him out in interviews. According to Riddle, Lesnar physically grabbed him backstage and made it clear that the two would never share the ring. Riddle said Lesnar pulled him aside and delivered a blunt message about the situation.

“When I got to a Royal Rumble, I was really excited to get in the ring. All sudden, I get a guy grabbed me by the back of the neck when I’m walking into the hall, and I turn around and it’s Brock Lesnar.”

“He pulls me in. He didn’t hurt me, and he just dragged me. It was a, ‘Hey, just want you to know we’ll never work, never get in the ring. Just keep my name out of your mouth.’”

The former UFC fighter explained that he stayed calm during the exchange and told Lesnar that his comments in interviews were simply trash talk meant to create interest.

“I’m like, ‘Dude, I’m not gonna force you to do anything you don’t want to do. I was just talking trash. And if it got you this worked up, it must have worked so, yeah, dude, we never had to wrestle or touch or anything if anything you touched me.’”

“And that’s exactly how that conversation goes. He goes ‘good.’ I was like, ‘cool.’”

But Riddle claims the story didn’t stay private for long. He said that after the confrontation, he went back to the locker room and told Kevin Owens what had happened. Within minutes, the details appeared online. That sequence of events led Riddle to believe Owens was responsible for leaking the story.

“I went to the locker room, and I told, like, Kevin Owens, and then five minutes later, it’s on the Dirt Sheet. So if you ever wonder where news is going coming, bro, that guy just loves to spill beans.”

“Hey, hope it gets better, too. Sorry about the injury, bro, I didn’t do it.”

The claim adds an unexpected twist to a story that was originally about Riddle’s confrontation with Brock Lesnar, as it raises questions about how backstage information sometimes ends up circulating in wrestling media.
