Kevin Nash didn’t hold back when weighing in on Becky Lynch’s controversial promo that took aim at the late Ozzy Osbourne—and the WWE Hall of Famer believes she may have crossed a line that could cost her more than just fan support.

Lynch made headlines during the August 25 episode of WWE RAW with a promo that aired live from Birmingham, England. Attempting to draw heel heat, Lynch invoked Osbourne’s death to insult the UK city, stating:

“The only good thing that came outta here died a month ago. But in fairness to Ozzy Osbourne, he had the good sense to move to LA, a proper city. Because if I lived in Birmingham I’d die too.”

That line immediately sparked backlash—not just from fans, but from Ozzy’s daughter Kelly Osbourne, who tore into Lynch on Instagram:

“You’re a disrespectful dirtbag! Shame on the WWE for allowing such things to be said about my father and his home!!!”

In a recent YouTube episode, Kevin Nash gave his take on the promo and did not mince words. He called it a desperate move from Lynch:

“I think her run’s over. I think she’s grasping. I think the business has passed her by.”

Nash acknowledged that while the promo may not have been directly disrespectful toward Ozzy Osbourne, referencing his death in that way was still out of line—especially so soon after it happened.

“Whether we think this is… I don’t think she said anything derogatory to Ozzy—but invoking it, and then saying you’d want to die like Ozzy died? I mean…”

From a business standpoint, Nash was also concerned about how this reflects on WWE’s corporate parent, TKO Group Holdings:

“I don’t think that’s exactly the look that WWE or its shareholders, which I’m one of—I don’t particularly want that coming out of somebody’s mouth.”

Nash also raised the possibility that Lynch may have gone rogue during the segment:

“Becky can go into business for herself like that in a promo. Anybody can. She’s got a mouth and was holding a mic.”

The conversation ended with Nash questioning why a top star like Lynch would even need to stoop to that level when WWE is already enjoying strong mainstream momentum:

“It’s like you’re 245 laps ahead in a race and you’re taking a shortcut. Why do you even need to go there?” I just think it’s stupid.”

At this time, WWE has not issued a public apology, though insiders say the company was blindsided by the promo and is embarrassed over the backlash. Discussions have taken place internally about how to address the issue, including a possible private or public apology to the Osbourne family.

Becky Lynch remains silent on the controversy—but with legends like Kevin Nash speaking out and public pressure mounting, the fallout may not be over.
