There was a title shakeup during the October 15 episode of WWE Evolve, a special edition of the show titled Succession—and it involved a rising name from WWE’s NIL program making her biggest move yet.
While Jackson Drake successfully defended his Evolve Championship in the opening match against Bryce Donovan, the second match of the night delivered a title change. Kendal Grey is now your new WWE Evolve Women’s Champion after defeating Kali Armstrong in a high-stakes showdown.
Armstrong had held the title since May 28, when she became the inaugural champion by beating Grey, Wendy Choo, and Kylie Rae in a four-way match. Now, that same opponent has come full circle and taken the title from her.
Grey, whose real name is Peyton Prussin, has been gaining traction in WWE recently—especially after her strong showing in this week’s NXT Women’s Championship #1 Contender Battle Royal. Grey made it to the final four before getting eliminated, with Tatum Paxley winning the match.
Her background speaks for itself. A three-time NAIA champion for Life University and a 2023 finalist for USA Wrestling’s Women’s Wrestler of the Year, Grey was signed as part of WWE’s third NIL class and made her in-ring debut earlier this year.
Now, with the Evolve Women’s Championship in her hands, she’s adding gold to her resume. Kali Armstrong’s reign may have ended, but it helped set the tone for what this division can become. With names like Grey on the rise, the future of WWE Evolve looks even more competitive.
