Keith Lee’s absence from AEW has left fans wondering what’s really going on—and now, The Limitless One is finally addressing the situation.
After months of radio silence, Lee took to Twitter/X to give an update on his status, making it clear his comeback isn’t in his hands.
Lee was pulled from the Worlds End pay-per-view back in 2023 after battling an injury that he later revealed had been lingering since 2022. Since then, he hasn’t stepped foot in an AEW ring, sparking plenty of speculation about his future. When a fan reached out to wish him well, Lee responded with a blunt but calm message.
“I am quite fine. It is not up to me when it comes to a return. But blessings to you as well.”
Lee followed up with another reply to a supporter who suggested launching a fan campaign to push for his return.
“I’ve been good for quite some time, though I do appreciate the concern. But no campaign required. Things happen the way they are suppose to, and eventually, the purpose will show itself.”
The message suggests that while Lee may feel ready, his medical clearance—or a decision from AEW management—is what’s holding up his return. Back in early 2024, Sean Ross Sapp confirmed that Lee was still under contract with AEW but had not been medically cleared to compete.
Lee’s last match was on AEW Collision: Holiday Bash in December 2023, where he defeated Brian Cage. Outside of a brief backstage appearance at a Texas AEW taping earlier this year, he’s been completely off TV.
For now, it’s clear Lee is content to wait things out, leaving the decision in AEW’s hands.
