Kacy Catanzaro has been a standout in every phase of her life — from being a groundbreaking star on American Ninja Warrior to blazing a trail in WWE under the ring name Katana Chance. But after her recent exit from the company, she’s confronting a rare challenge: figuring out what she truly wants for herself for the very first time.

While speaking to Lightweights Podcast with Joe Vulpis Catanzaro, Kacy revealed that her entire adult life has been structured around performance, contracts, and obligations — until now. From college gymnastics and national television competitions to nearly a decade in WWE, she never had a moment to simply ask, “What do I want next?”

“This is the first time in my life — in my adult life — that I have really… well it’s only been like two weeks, but that I am going to really sit and think like, what do I want to do?” she admitted. “Like I said earlier, I did gymnastics my whole life. Back when I was in college I had a scholarship for gymnastics, and back then with NCAA, we couldn’t make money. We couldn’t get sponsorships. Like, we couldn’t do anything else.”

Catanzaro explained how every phase of her life led directly into the next: gymnastics, then Ninja Warrior for five seasons, then WWE for eight years — all of them high-pressure commitments that left no time for reflection. Now, as a free agent, the possibilities are open — and a bit daunting.

“So it has been so long that I’ve just had to think, like, what actually… what actually do I want to do? And it’s a hard question. I know what I’ve been passionate about, but I don’t know now that the world is open. I’m not sure what that looks like yet — which is exciting. It’s scary, but exciting.”

As for whether she’ll return to either world — Ninja Warrior or wrestling — she left the door wide open. But one thing she couldn’t ignore was the feeling of unfinished business.

“I know that I have more potential in both of those avenues. I know that when it comes to American Ninja Warrior… there were more things I had wanted to do or more things I feel like I was capable of. And when it comes to wrestling, I’m very grateful for my time there. And I also feel the same way — where I know that there are things that I’m capable of and there is potential that I wasn’t able to show. So, like, that’s hard to walk away from, you know what I mean?”

Kacy Catanzaro may have walked away from WWE — but she hasn’t walked away from her drive. Now, for the first time, she’s choosing her next chapter on her own terms.
