Karrion Kross may be getting more screen time on WWE SmackDown, but he’s still feeling boxed in creatively.

During a revealing interview with 10 Count Media, the former NXT Champion opened up about WWE’s unclear vision for his character—and how many of his most twisted ideas never made it past the pitch phase.

While the crowd support is growing and he’s being featured more prominently alongside Scarlett, Kross admitted that he’s unsure of how WWE wants to present him in the long run.

“Man, I don’t know how to answer that question. I don’t know how the company is trying to approach my character—that I’m a little confused about. And all I can tell you is I am trying to be the biggest and best bad guy that I am allowed to be.”

According to Kross, he’s repeatedly pitched dark, villainous, even terrifying heel angles over the past three years—but they’ve all been rejected.

“I would take things farther. I would take things way farther. I would have taken things farther. I’ve suggested to take things farther over the last three years—to be the most vile character anyone has ever seen as a villain. But they have not played out that way. I’m part of a show and I’m a character, and it’s not my show.”

Despite the setbacks, he’s playing ball—though it’s not the version of his character he truly wants fans to see.

“I’m very happy to be in the show, and I’ll do what everybody asks me to do, but I would have taken things so much farther.”

Kross also teased that some of his unused ideas were so dark and twisted, they’ll end up in a book someday.

“I’ve had ideas that will probably be in the book since they never came to fruition that I’ll tell people about that would shock people. Really nasty, scary, bad guy heel stuff.”

And now, with his darker pitches off the table, Kross says he’s had to pivot toward simply entertaining fans.

“Now we’ve landed into a situation where, if I’m not able to really get solid heat, I still got to entertain people. It’s World Wrestling Entertainment. People have to be entertained. So my mind has shifted away from getting nuclear heat because I haven’t really been permitted to get that.”

“I have ideas. I’ve submitted them. So at the very least, it’s World Wrestling Entertainment. I’ve got to entertain these people. I’ve got to make sure that they’re leaving with a smile on their face.”

As previously reported, Scarlett’s WWE deal is tied directly to Kross’—meaning when his contract is up, hers is too. But based on his continued TV push, new merch, and PLE appearances, signs suggest WWE wants to keep both of them around. Still, whether they’ll let Kross unleash his full potential remains to be seen.

Karrion Kross clearly has a vision that WWE won’t let him show—at least not yet. But if the company ever green-lights what he’s been holding back, fans might finally get to see the monster he’s been waiting to unleash.
