Karrion Kross is opening up about how his relationship with Scarlett went from a chance meeting to one of wrestling’s most recognized partnerships — both in life and in the ring.

Speaking on the Stories With Brisco And Bradshaw podcast, Kross recalled locking eyes with Scarlett for the first time at a wrestling show and instantly feeling a connection, even though he had a strict personal rule about not dating coworkers.

“I met her at a wrestling show and it was one of those types of things where you lock eyes with a woman and you know that something could happen. And I always had a policy. I absolutely do not want to intermingle with anybody at work… I never really messed around with people at work.”

Despite that, the two kept finding themselves drawn together after shows, eventually becoming close friends. Kross said the bond grew so strong that they “fell for each other very hard” and couldn’t avoid the obvious.

“We tried to get away from each other… Conan put us together [in Mexico] and… it wasn’t long after that we were dating. The cool part about it was her and I became very good friends before we started dating… everything just worked.”

When the conversation shifted to their move to WWE NXT, Kross revealed that Scarlett was hired first, and WWE gave them the option to work separately. He pitched them as an on-screen team because of how well it was working on the independents.

“They asked me… ‘You don’t have to feel like you have to live in the place of where you’ve been. If you want to try something new, you can.’ And I had suggested that we work together because it was working elsewhere… people always wanted the 8x10s of us together versus the singles… I had sort of a radar reading… that it would work. And WWE was open to it.”

For Kross, the real strength of their partnership lies in the mutual understanding of wrestling’s demanding lifestyle — from early flights to constant travel and training — something he says made their relationship solid from the start.
