Jacobs made his wrestling debut in 1992 and entered WWE under various gimmicks before debuting as Kane in 1997 at Badd Blood: In Your House, tearing off the Hell in a Cell door to confront The Undertaker. Jacobs graduated from Northeast Missouri State University with a degree in English Literature. Before entering wrestling full-time, he worked as a teacher.
