Kamille has been off AEW television for over six months, and while rumors swirled about backstage drama and heat with Mercedes Moné, it turns out her absence may have a very different explanation.

According to Fightful Select, Kamille has been quietly working on a new television project—one that will keep her away from AEW through part of the summer.

“Those close to Kamille have been very quiet about her time off, which has exceeded six months. However, based on what we’ve heard, she won’t be back soon, but for a better reason.”

Sources stated that Kamille, like Wardlow, is involved in something outside the ring that’s keeping her booked and busy. While the nature of the show hasn’t been revealed, AEW talent reportedly didn’t know much about the situation.

“When asking in AEW about the absence we were told that talent were effectively ‘in the dark’ about her absence and didn’t hear a specific reason.”

The new update throws cold water on earlier speculation by Disco Inferno, who claimed on Keepin It 100 that Kamille may have rubbed AEW officials the wrong way by exaggerating WWE’s interest in her during contract negotiations.

“That’s all the information I know, is that they found she was kind of—I’d heard that she was being dishonest in her dealings with them, trying to secure a contract. And when they found that out—well, when was the last time she’s been on TV?”

Kamille was last seen on AEW Rampage in November 2024, where she was taken out in a backstage segment—effectively writing her off television. Despite early conversations about a potential match with Mercedes Moné, sources said it just never materialized, though Moné was reportedly open to the idea.

“It was believed that Tony Khan didn’t feel like the Mercedes partnership was working. It was clarified by a number of sources that Mercedes was willing to work with Kamille, and do a match, but that didn’t happen.”

Kamille still has time left on her AEW contract and has been active in the fan scene through signings. She’s only wrestled once since her AEW absence, in a battle royal on the indies, but the door to AEW remains open—at least for now.

“As of now, it appears she’s been benched the last six months, but will be out working a television project this Summer.”

Kamille’s absence from AEW might have sparked questions, but now fans know she’s been chasing a different spotlight—and it looks like her return to the ring will have to wait.
