Josh Alexander didn’t hold anything back during his Hey! (EW) appearance with RJ City—opening up about being 300 pounds in high school, asking for a dietician for Christmas, and going to prom alone.

RJ didn’t waste time getting into it: “You were a fat child—a disproportionate 300 pounds until the 12th grade.” “Yep,” Alexander confirmed with zero hesitation.

Then came one of the wildest exchanges of the interview. “You were so fat—how fat was it? You were so fat, in fact, that you asked your mom to get you a dietician for Christmas so you would look good at prom,” RJ said.

Alexander nodded and smiled as he admitted, “I mean, so I could look better at prom, yeah.” But when RJ followed up with “Did you… did you get laid?” the wrestling star deadpanned: “Not at prom, no I didn’t.”

Alexander then revealed the awkward truth behind his solo prom night. His original date had been grounded after getting drunk at a party a month prior, so he showed up alone. “It had nothing to do with my weight,” he clarified. “My date had gotten drunk at a party for the first time ever a month before, and then her parents grounded her and wouldn’t let her go to prom. So I went without a date.” “So you went thin—and by yourself,” RJ fired back. “Yes,” Alexander replied.

The segment gave fans a rare look at the kind of emotional and physical battles Alexander faced long before he became a wrestling force. That early struggle helped shape the chip on his shoulder—and now that he’s in AEW, he’s owning every part of his story.

Josh Alexander’s transformation wasn’t just physical—it was personal. From a 300-pound teen to a top-level pro wrestler, he’s living proof that persistence hits harder than excuses.
