Josh Alexander has shared a tough update with fans after suffering a serious injury during AEW Collision, revealing that surgery is now required and his future in the ring remains uncertain.
Taking to social media, Alexander posted a video from his car where he addressed the situation directly and explained how the injury developed over the past week. He revealed that after dealing with pain and limping since the incident, he finally received confirmation from his surgeon about how serious the injury really is. Josh Alexander explained that what initially seemed like a painful setback turned into something far more serious once doctors evaluated the damage.
“All right, I'm. I'm just gonna get into this. Last week on AEW Collision, I. I suffered an injury. And when you suffer injuries, you don't know how severe they are. I. I just found out minutes ago how serious this was. I know I've been limping and been in pain for a week, but, yeah, my surgeon told me, you know, I'm gonna need surgery this coming Wednesday. My knee injury is pretty severe, so I will not be cleared to compete. And there's. There's no timetable set right now for when I will be back.”
The update makes it clear that Alexander’s injury is significant enough to immediately sideline him, with surgery scheduled and no confirmed timeframe for recovery. Injuries like this often leave wrestlers facing uncertainty, and Alexander admitted that the moment brought plenty of concerns about what lies ahead. Josh Alexander also spoke about the emotional impact of the injury, noting that thoughts about his career and future quickly entered his mind after learning the severity of the situation.
“And, you know, in the moments that you get injured, a lot of things go through your head. My AEW career, my wrestling career, everything, you know, pops through your mind.”
One of the biggest disappointments for Alexander is being forced to miss a major title defense. He revealed that he had planned to defend his MLP Canadian Championship at MLP x ROH Global Wars but will now be unable to compete due to the severity of the injury. Josh Alexander expressed how much the championship and Canadian wrestling scene mean to him, making the missed defense especially difficult to accept.
“One of the things that popped in my head was defending my Canadian championship this weekend. I would defend my Canadian championship, still with one leg, if I had to, because MLP, Canadian wrestling, it means everything to me, man. It's who I've been for 20 plus years.”
Despite the setback, Alexander said he still plans to support the upcoming events from home and remain connected to the wrestling community while he begins the recovery process. Josh Alexander closed his message by acknowledging the uncertainty surrounding his future while promising fans he will stay engaged as he works toward recovery.
“So I don't know what the future holds for Josh Alexander, but I know that tonight, MLP presents Global Wars with Ring of Honor… So I'll be doing exactly what all of you are doing. I'll be tuning in from my couch at home, enjoying some of the best pro wrestling in the world. And I hope you enjoy it, too. I'll see you when I see you.”
Alexander’s injury now leaves a major question mark hanging over his in-ring future, especially with surgery ahead and no timetable for his return. Missing a scheduled championship defense is already a significant setback, but the bigger concern remains how long he will be out and what his recovery will ultimately look like.
