John Laurinaitis’ attorney is pushing back after new court filings in Janel Grant’s lawsuit against WWE and Vince McMahon brought his client back into the conversation.

Laurinaitis was originally named as a co-defendant in the lawsuit but was removed from the case in May 2025 after agreeing to cooperate and provide evidence to Grant’s legal team. Despite that, Grant’s latest filing referenced alleged incidents involving Laurinaitis during her time in WWE.

On April 1, Grant’s legal team submitted a memorandum opposing WWE and Vince McMahon’s efforts to move the case into private arbitration instead of keeping it in public court. The filing included references to alleged situations involving Laurinaitis, which led to a response from his attorney.

Edward M. Brennan, Laurinaitis’ lawyer, issued a statement via POST Wrestling dismissing the allegations and questioning whether they would hold up under scrutiny.

“My client has no need to comment on this salacious affidavit. Anyone can make allegations. Whether those allegations can withstand the harsh sunlight of cross-examination is another matter entirely.”

Brennan also pointed to the outcome of previous investigations and Laurinaitis’ removal from the lawsuit as reasons he believes the claims should not carry weight.

“I note that after two-plus years of litigation, Mr. Laurinaitis remains the only party exonerated by an independent investigation commissioned by the WWE Board of Directors to review these matters and the only person dismissed, with prejudice, from this lawsuit. Those facts speak louder than any allegations made to buttress a suspect claim.”

Grant’s legal battle against WWE and Vince McMahon continues to develop, with the latest filings focusing heavily on whether the case will remain in court or move into private arbitration — a decision that could shape how much of the case becomes public.

With Laurinaitis already dismissed from the lawsuit but still being mentioned in recent filings, his attorney’s response signals that the legal fight surrounding this case is far from over.
