John Cena’s final year in the ring isn’t just over—it’s about to be immortalized.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE is working on a new behind-the-scenes documentary chronicling Cena’s retirement tour, and it’s expected to drop on Peacock in mid-2026.
Throughout Cena’s emotional farewell run, WWE had cameras rolling backstage, capturing exclusive footage of his last appearances, his final match, and the moments that shaped the end of one of the most iconic careers in pro wrestling history.
Cena officially wrestled his final match on December 13, 2025, at Saturday Night’s Main Event, where he lost to Gunther via submission in the main event. The atmosphere was electric, and as Cena later shared on Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, the experience surpassed anything he imagined.
“I envisioned something beautiful. Saturday far exceeded whatever was in my heart and soul,” Cena said.
He went on to describe the overwhelming size of the crowd, noting just how packed the venue had become.
“So I know I’m out there one last time. They had to move the side ramps in to put more seats. It almost was like a fire hazard to go down the ramp. You cannot fit anymore — I know it’s an old wrestler’s story, but I’m setting the stage for why I was so filled with joy. You can’t fit anymore people in there.”
While his in-ring chapter has closed, Cena’s connection to WWE is far from over. He’s signed a new five-year brand ambassador deal with the company, ensuring he’ll continue to be a visible and influential figure moving forward.
A full-circle moment for one of WWE’s greatest of all time, the documentary promises to give fans a rare, intimate look into the final act of Cena’s in-ring journey.
