John Cena didn’t hold back when the topic turned to Vince McMahon’s WWE exit during his interview on The Joe Rogan Experience. While Cena acknowledged McMahon’s monumental impact on professional wrestling, he made it crystal clear that legacy doesn’t erase responsibility.

Rogan asked whether McMahon is really out of WWE. Cena confirmed it but offered a more thoughtful take that went beyond a simple yes or no.

“In my eyes, I’d like to think that time heals everything. And I believe in forgiveness. I also believe in looking at the body of work. But I also know there’s a lot of fragile stuff going on there. I don’t know, man… it’s a hot subject.”

He then explained how his own personal growth shaped the way he looks at situations like this—especially when someone he respects is involved in controversy.

“I’ve learned to become a little bit more accountable for what I say. And just because I feel a certain way about a person doesn’t exonerate them from being accountable for their actions.”

“Just because he did start, quote-unquote, all this gangster sh*t, that doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to be accountable for his actions.”*

Cena made it clear he’s open to the idea of time healing wounds—but only if there’s accountability first.

“Let’s figure out what that means. And then figure out if we can move forward and bring that back in the fold, or if it stays the way it is.”

John Cena isn’t canceling Vince McMahon. But he’s also not sugarcoating anything. He’s walking the tightrope between gratitude and moral responsibility—and doing it with the same poise that made him one of WWE’s biggest names.
