John Cena may have tapped out to GUNTHER and closed the book on his WWE in-ring career at Saturday Night’s Main Event, but he’s not rushing into the next chapter — unless you count dental appointments.
Speaking on Cody Rhodes’ What Do You Wanna Talk About? podcast, the 17-time world champion opened up about what his life looks like now that his in-ring career is over — and why he’s taking things one step at a time.
“I’ve always been somebody who waits for life to deal you what it’s going to deal you — because life will always deal you a hill.”
So what’s the first hill he’s climbing post-retirement? He’ll be getting a tooth implant again since he lost three so far.
“I’ve got to get a third run on a tooth implant — I lost three of them, so I’ve got to get another one. That’s first.”
From there, Cena said he’s focusing on quality time with his loved ones — no scripts, no distractions, just presence for the next few weeks.
“Then it’s holiday travel — being present, with curiosity and purpose, with my family for seven days, and then with my other family for ten days.”
And don’t expect Cena to dive back into the Hollywood hustle anytime soon. His priority? Real connection — not screen time.
“I want to keep screen time way down — get as many social engagements as I can — actively listen — and just be present.”
For now, Cena’s focused on healing, holiday time, and the quiet stuff that doesn’t trend — a rare move from a man who’s lived the last 23 years in front of the world.
What do you think about John Cena’s post-retirement mindset? Do you believe he’ll stay away from the limelight— or is this just a calm before another storm? Let us know in the comments.
