John Cena may have retired from in-ring competition at Saturday Night’s Main Event in December 2025 — but he’s not slowing down when it comes to his Hollywood career.
According to Deadline, John Cena has officially signed on to star in Netflix’s upcoming crypto-themed comedy One Attempt Remaining. He joins an ensemble cast that includes Jennifer Garner, Saturday Night Live alum Kate McKinnon, and Aimee Carrero.
The film, directed by Kay Cannon, follows an ex-couple who discover that cryptocurrency they won during a wild cruise years earlier is now worth millions. There’s just one problem — they forgot the password. With only three days before the account expires, they’re forced to retrace their steps from that chaotic night, uncovering not just clues to the password but the reasons they originally fell in love.
No character details have been revealed yet for Cena’s role, but the project is being produced by 21 Laps’ Shawn Levy and Dan Levine, alongside Nicole King and Jennifer Garner. Cannon, Becca Edelman, Deanna Barillari, and Bergen Swanson are attached as executive producers.
This marks another major Netflix collaboration for Cena. He recently filmed a starring role opposite Eric André in the upcoming Netflix comedy Little Brother. Beyond that, Cena continues stacking major projects across multiple studios.
He was most recently seen in James Gunn’s HBO Max series Peacemaker and also made a cameo appearance as himself in Apple TV’s Pluribus. Looking ahead, Cena has Coyote vs. Acme set to release August 28 via Ketchup Entertainment after years of being shelved, as well as Matchbox: The Movie from Apple, Skydance, and Mattel Studios, scheduled for October 9.
Since stepping away from in-ring competition, Cena has clearly shifted fully into Hollywood mode. From action films to streaming comedies, his post-wrestling career is firing on all cylinders.
