John Cena never shared the ring with Goldberg—and if you’ve been wondering why that dream match never happened, you’re not alone.
During a fan Q&A at FAN EXPO Boston, Cena was asked point-blank why the showdown between two of wrestling’s biggest names never materialized. Rather than dodge the question or offer a long-winded explanation, Cena kept it real with a deadpan answer that said it all.
“Well… because nobody told me to. That’s the best answer I can give, you know?”
He didn’t just stop there. Cena used the moment to reflect on his entire career, choosing to focus on gratitude rather than regret.
“Instead of looking at life as ‘why haven’t I,’ I love to look at it like ‘I got to’ or ‘I get to.’ And I think that’s a good perspective to have.”
As for the matches he did have, Cena reminded fans that his resume speaks for itself.
“Man, I’d have loved to wrestle Andre the Giant, Steve Austin—there’s a lot of folks on the list I would have loved to—but I also got to wrestle CM Punk, The Rock, AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, Edge… you name it.”
So while fans may still dream about what could have been between Cena and Goldberg, Cena’s not losing sleep over it—and he doesn’t think you should either.
