John Cena is officially counting down the days until he hangs up his boots for good. After a blockbuster match against AJ Styles at WWE Crown Jewel: Perth that paid tribute to wrestling legends past and present, the 16-time world champion says it’s almost time to say goodbye — for real.
With only four appearances left in his farewell run, Cena will next compete at WWE Survivor Series: WarGames this November before stepping into the ring for the final time on December 13, 2025, at the WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C.
Amid rampant speculation about a possible swerve or extended run, Cena took to social media on Friday to put all rumors to rest. He made it clear that his decision to retire isn’t changing.
“Despite any speculation or rumors, on July 6, 2024 I announced I would retire from WWE in ring participation,” Cena wrote on X. “I am far from perfect but strive to be a person whose word has value.”
He also added one last emotional farewell statement for fans counting down with him:
“12/13/25 will be my final match. I am beyond grateful for every moment WWE has given me. I am excited for 12/13 & look forward to seeing all of you one last time.”
Fans are clearly feeling the urgency. According to early data, WWE has reportedly sold enough tickets to fill the Capital One Arena in D.C. three times over, making Cena’s last match one of the hottest tickets in company history.
John Cena’s final chapter in the WWE ring is almost here. With just weeks left before he takes his final walk down the ramp, fans are grabbing every chance to say goodbye to “The Greatest of All-Time.”
