John Cena may be retired from in-ring competition, but he’s not staying away from WrestleMania 42 as he confirmed he will host the Showcase of the Immortals next month.

On March 30, 2026, John Cena took to Twitter and confirmed he’ll be part of WrestleMania 42 next month—and made it clear that he’ll be hosting the show. Cena delivered the update in his usual cryptic style, referencing both his “retired life” and the ongoing Road to WrestleMania before dropping the key line.

“Ah, retired life in the sun — I’m kidding, check out the background. I’m also on the road, which is ironic because there’s a Road to WrestleMania going on, and Hollywood is really close to Vegas.”

He then leaned directly into the speculation surrounding his role—making it clear he’s aware of the talk about WrestleMania needing a host. And with that, Cena essentially confirmed his involvement in the biggest show of the year.

“Rumor around this town is WrestleMania needs a host, and well, I’m already on that road…so I will ‘see you’ at WrestleMania.”

The timing of this update is key. Cena fully retired from wrestling last year and has been working toward becoming more involved behind the scenes in WWE — but made it clear those plans still depend on internal approval.

Now, with this WrestleMania role confirmed, it looks like Cena’s transition into his next chapter is already underway — just not in the ring. Hosting WrestleMania keeps Cena as one of the biggest names attached to the event, while also signaling that WWE still sees him as a major presence moving forward, even without competing.

With WrestleMania 42 set for Las Vegas, Cena’s involvement gives the show a major mainstream boost — and could be the first step toward a larger long-term role inside the company. John Cena may be done wrestling — but he’s clearly not done with WWE.
