John Cena’s final year in WWE is in full swing, and now the Champ has provided an update on exactly when he plans to hang up his boots for good.

During a recent interview on the red carpet via Page Six, the 17-time World Champion confirmed his last match will happen in mid-December 2025—and it sounds like he’s making every remaining appearance count.

Cena, who is currently the reigning WWE Champion, addressed retirement speculation and gave fans a clearer picture of how the final stretch of his career is shaping up. The wrestling icon admitted he’s still figuring out the location for his last match, but he’s embracing the journey as it unfolds.

Cena explained that he committed to 36 appearances for his final year, and with the calendar already halfway through, the finish line is in sight. But in true Cena fashion, he hinted that there’s still plenty left to enjoy before he rides off into the sunset. In his own words, Cena shared how it’s all playing out.

“Well, I don’t want to downplay the action in WWE. There’s always a bunch of action over there. Uh, and yes, I’m 48. Uh, my last match will be in mid December. We’re still trying to find out a place to do it, but uh I said 36 dates in January. We’re halfway through. Um, and it’s gosh, it’s been a lot of compelling TV, and I don’t want to spoil it for anybody, but I think we’re just getting started.”

With 18 dates left and the WWE locker room heating up heading into SummerSlam, Cena’s farewell tour is shaping up to be one of the most talked-about final runs in recent memory.

Love him or hate him, Cena’s leaving on his own terms—and it sounds like there’s still plenty of TV drama left before he walks away for good.
