John Cena is shutting down speculation about a potential run for president — at least for now.

During an interview with Us Weekly, Cena was asked whether he’d ever consider running for president in real life, given his new role playing a fictional U.S. President in the upcoming buddy action comedy Hez State.

“This is a movie and I’m playing a role in a buddy action comedy,” Cena said. “I just uh happen to wear a suit and say my character’s in the Oval Office. I think that’s about as far as we can take that.”

When pressed further on the idea, Cena redirected the conversation back to his film, saying, “Uh, I hope you see the movie on Amazon Prime uh Prime Video. It’s Hez State — is fantastic.”

Cena’s comments come as he continues to play a heel character on WWE television, a stark contrast to the larger-than-life hero image he’s maintained for most of his career. But when it comes to stepping into real-world politics, Cena isn’t making any moves beyond the fictional Oval Office.
