Joey Janela knows how to make a statement inside and outside the squared circle and he always keeps fans updated about his life on social media. In fact, Janela had some great news to share as he has cut drinking from his life for good.

While speaking during a recent interview with Fightful Overbooked, Joey Jenela shared how much his life has improved now that he has quit drinking for good. He feels healthier, no longer misses flights, and avoids the chaos of losing his passport or wrestling while feeling awful.

Reflecting on his past, he admitted that many of his best indie matches happened while he was hungover, including his bout with Jon Moxley at Fyter Fest. Looking back, he realizes how reckless his habits were before shows.

Right now, instead of heading to the bar after wrestling, he goes to his hotel, orders Popeyes chicken and rests. If his flight is too early, he skips sleep, boards the plane, and wakes up feeling refreshed—”like a princess.”

“It’s been great, actually. I feel so much healthier. No more missing flights. No more losing my passport and feeling like s*** wrestling these crazy indie matches. I did it. A lot of my great indie matches, I was completely hungover. Me and Moxley at Fyter Fest, I was completely hungover.

Looking back, I’m like, ‘You had issues or something.’ Why were you doing this the night before shows? I got better with the times. Now, instead of going to the bar after the show, it’s going to the hotel room and ordering some Popeyes chicken and going to bed or not going to bed if the flight is too early. Getting the flight, sleeping on the flight, waking up refreshed and feeling like a princess.”

Janela’s choice to stay sober shows his personal growth and obvious determination to a better life. Making healthier decisions will help him wrestle better and have a longer career. As he keeps improving, fans can look forward to seeing a more focused and better version of the “Bad Boy” in wrestling.
