Joey Janela has never been one to shy away from controversy. He has commented on many things, from political to pro wrestling that has ruffled feathers. The Bad Boy’s recent comments about Sabu’s final match have stirred another round of backlash.

While speaking to Fightful, Joey Janela responded directly to those fans that blamed him for Sabu’s condition during their last match at GCW Spring Break 9. He also made it clear that he’s not interested in apologizing.

“What you get in real life is a very cute, young, handsome boy who 100% didn’t kill Sabu, f*ck you for saying that. F*ck you, because you could go get hit by a bus. You could go get in a f*cking plane crash if you said that to me. Go get in a f*cking plane crash, and don’t survive like that guy did in India, that sole survivor of that plane crash. Don’t survive like Ric Flair. Die in the flames if you believe that I killed Sabu, or you listen to Jim Cornette, or anyone saying whatever, that kratom is like 10 times as strong as fentanyl and you have to snort it, inject it, and not drink it as a herbal tea that people drink every day to get off opiates. I don’t know about it. I’ve never taken kratom in my life.”

Later in the interview, Joey Janela turned the tone into one of more satire. He joked about returning to AEW with a title belt rebrand in Sabu’s honor. Of course, his AEW exit drew a lot of attention when it went down when his contract expired.

“I’m coming back to AEW tomorrow. I’m wrestling Kenny Omega and Okada in a three-way match. He got the scoop now for me. I’m coming in to wrestle in the stadium. I’m winning both belts and then I’m gonna go on to the main event and I’m gonna wrestle Hangman and Moxley in another three-way match. I’m gonna have both belts. I’m gonna unify them and I’m gonna rename the AEW belt the Sabu Championship. RIP to the f*ucking goat. This is the greatest interview of all time. Please hire me, anyone but Court Bauer. I will never wrestle for you. Billy Corgan, I won’t wrestle for you either. Because I don’t really feel like it. Because he’s bald and for some reason, it’s cool to hate on bald people. WWE, I’ll be a coach there. I’m going to be chilling. Actually, I’d be a good coach.”

Sabu passed away at age 60 just weeks after wrestling Janela in what became his final match. Since then, some fans have questioned whether the extreme wrestling legend should have been in the ring at all that night. Accusations included kratom use, and there were a lot of opinions on the matter. Joey Janela has denied any wrongdoing when it comes to his interactions or match with Sabu.

We will have to see if this mater is laid to rest. The world lost a hardcore icon and a great pro wrestler when Sabu passed away. However, Joey Janela has washed his hands of doing anything wrong in the situation. He simply did his job as a pro wrestler, something that Sabu did until the end as well.
